Topo-guided LASIK and Photorefractive Keratectomy vs Wavefront LASIK and Photorefractive Keratectomy

Overview

The University of Utah is hosting a study on the differences between wavefront optimized laser vision correction and topography-guided laser vision correction, both through either LASIK or Photorefractive Keratectomy. The first vision correction surgery will be performed in one eye of the patient and the other vision correction surgery will be performed in the other eye.

 

Study Information

This study has an estimated enrollment of 400 participants. They will not know which surgery is performed in either eye. They will be monitored for uncorrected visual acuity after 12 months. They will also be monitored for changes in contrast sensitivity, the degree of higher order aberrations, and quality of life after 3 months. 

 

Inclusion Criteria

All sexes, ages 21 and older, are allowed to participate, To be included in the study, participants must be considered good candidates for laser refractive surgery.

 

Exclusion Criteria

Those who are not considered good candidates for LASIK or Photorefractive Keratectomy may not participate.
