Overview

Stanford University is hosting a clinical trial on how to use prophylactic tissue sealant to guard eyes from acquiring epithelial ingrowth after repeated LASIK eye surgeries. Participants will be examined to ensure they can safely undergo LASIK flap lift eye surgery. These surgeries will be performed to undo the damage caused by previous faulty LASIK eye surgeries. 

Study Information

This study has an estimated enrollment of 25 participants. In addition to the tissue sealant, a bandage contact lens will also be placed on the eye. Participants will be seen by researchers on the day surgery is performed, one day after the operation, one month after the operation, and three months after the operation. They will receive antibiotic eye drops to use for one week after surgery.

Inclusion Criteria

All sexes, ages 21 to 99 years old are allowed to participate. To be included in the study, participants must:

• Have healthy eyes
• Previously had LASIK eye surgery
• Have residual refractive errors

Exclusion Criteria

• Those who do not meet the age requirement
• Subjects with excessively thin corneas
• Subjects with topographic evidence of keratoconus
• Subjects with ectatic eye disorders
• Subjects with autoimmune diseases
• Subjects who are pregnant or nursing
